Description

A board designed to host a BBC micro:bit V1 or V2 includes a BME280 sensor as well as a connector to support an optional Datalogger module.

The weather:bit board from SparkFun has been designed to create a highly comprehensive educational weather station powered by a BBC micro:bit V1 or V2 module (not included).

To use it, simply insert the micro:bit board into a dedicated Edge connector and then connect up to 4 external sensors (not included).

  • 2 RJ11 connectors to accommodate optional weather sensors (rain gauge, anemometer, or wind vane).
  • 2 screw terminals to connect environmental sensors (soil moisture and external temperature probe).

Example code is provided to help you easily and quickly experiment with these different sensors.

But that's not all—the weather:bit board also includes:

  • A BME280 sensor (humidity, ambient temperature, and atmospheric pressure).
  • A female connector for UART interface to support a data logger module (not included) for even more possibilities.

All functionalities are detailed in the getting started guide (available for download).

Specifications:

  • Edge connector for BBC micro:bit V1 or V2 (not included).
  • 2 RJ11 connectors for rain gauge, anemometer, or wind vane.
  • 2 3-pin screw terminals (with solder pad connections) for soil moisture and external temperature sensors.
  • 2 female connectors for UART and I2C interface.
  • 1 vertical Qwiic connector.
  • Integrated BME280 sensor.
  • Dimensions: 68.5 x 55.8 mm.
